Ultimate Cricket Championship (UCC) – Code of Conduct

Scope of Application

1.1 The Managing Committee of the Ultimate Cricket Championship (UCC) has formulated a comprehensive Code of Conduct aimed at upholding the integrity of cricket, promoting its values, and ensuring the safety and well-being of all members, including the students participating in the UCC. This Code of Conduct (referred to as the “Code”) is an integral part of the UCC.

1.2 The Company, in issuing and adopting this Code, aims to establish a robust framework that upholds the principles and laws of cricket, ensuring all participants—members of the UCC, including players, parents, team officials, and umpires—adhere to appropriate conduct. Any instances of improper behavior will be addressed justly and promptly by the Management Committee/ Disciplinary Committee.

1.3 All matches conducted under the UCC banner shall be governed by the true spirit of cricket. Players, their parents, team officials, coaches, captains, and Umpires are urged to embrace this code, and no participant shall engage in any conduct that is against the essence of cricket.

1.4 Players and officials shall avoid any behavior during matches that is unbecoming of the game of cricket.

1.5 All UCC members commit to safeguarding the spirit of the game of cricket, emphasizing RESPECT for:

  • a) Opponents
  • b) The player’s own captain and team
  • c) The role of Umpires
  • d) The traditional values of the game

1.6 All UCC members, including players, parents, team officials, etc., must prioritize the safety and security of the students at all times.

Code of Conduct for Players

2.1 All players, through themselves or their parents, are automatically bound by and expected to adhere to all provisions within the Code of Conduct.

2.2 All players and their parents agree:

  • a) It is their individual responsibility to thoroughly understand all the requisites of the Code of Conduct, including behaviors deemed offenses under the Code.
  • b) To accept the exclusive jurisdiction of the Management Committee/ Disciplinary Committee to address and decide charges as per the Code of Conduct.
  • c) Not to initiate any legal proceedings in any court or forum concerning violations of the Code of Conduct.

Code of Conduct Offenses for Players

3.1 The game of cricket holds its unique appeal by being played within the bounds of its laws and spirit. Actions that contravene this spirit are detrimental to the game itself. Any participant committing actions prohibited under this Code of Conduct may face proceedings initiated through the parents of players, as outlined in the Committee’s documentation.

3.2 Players must refrain from abusing cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, and fixtures during coaching sessions and matches.

3.3 Players must respect and accept the Umpire’s decisions without dissent or provocative behavior, such as excessive disappointment or delay in play.

3.4 Players shall abstain from using crude, abusive, or obscene language or gestures during a match.

3.5 Players should avoid excessively audible or repeated swearing.

3.6 Players shall not excessively appeal during a match.

3.7 Players must avoid inappropriate and deliberate physical contact on the field during a match.

3.8 Players must not charge or advance aggressively toward Umpires when appealing.

3.9 Players shall avoid deliberate and malicious distraction or obstruction on the field.

3.10 Players shall refrain from throwing objects at others inappropriately or dangerously.

3.11 Players must avoid language or gestures that are seriously obscene, offensive, or insulting to others.

3.12 Players must not alter the condition of the ball by any prohibited means.

3.13 Players must avoid attempting to manipulate a match for improper strategic or tactical reasons.

3.14 Players must not intimidate or assault Umpires.

3.15 Players shall not engage in acts of violence on the field.

3.16 Players must refrain from racially abusive comments or language.

3.17 Players should be punctual for training and matches.

3.18 Players must adhere to safety equipment requirements.

3.19 Players must remove jewelry during matches.

3.20 No alcohol shall be consumed during play hours.

3.21 Players should present themselves in suitable sports attire.

3.22 Players must comply with tournament entry conditions.

3.23 Players shall not engage in match fixing or betting.

Sanctions

4.1 Upon determination of a Code of Conduct offense by the Management Committee/ Disciplinary Committee, the appropriate sanction will be imposed on the Player or Team Official.

4.2 The Committee will consider the suspension period based on the severity of the offense. Termination of participation privileges may also occur for serious offenses.

4.3 The decisions of the Committee shall be final and binding.

Amendments and Interpretations

5.1 The Code may be amended by the Company, with amendments taking effect on specified dates.

5.2 Headings in the Code are for guidance and do not constitute substantive content.

5.3 Invalid, unenforceable, or illegal provisions shall be deleted while the Code remains in force.
